Off spinning all rounder Gareth Batty returned for a second stint at Surrey in the autumn of 2009 after initially leaving the county in 2002 to seek first-team cricket at Worcestershire.
Whilst in the Midlands he was selected for England, playing seven Test Matches, ten ODIs and one International T20. He was also impressive at domestic level with his penetrative spin bowling, useful lower order batting and feisty fielding.
Over the last two seasons, Batty has established himself as a key part of the squad in all forms of cricket, contributing in all forms of the game and playing a key role in Surrey’s dual 2011 triumphs of promotion back to the top flight and winning the Clydesdale Bank 40.
