RHB Plays in Second XI Win

Rory Hamilton-Brown played for the Surrey Second XI as they beat their Hampshire compatriots by five wickets in a tight Second XI Trophy match at the Ageas Bowl today.

With Hampshire batting first, opener Tim Linley started proceedings well by bowling the dangerous James Vince in the first over of the day – with the Surrey seam attack then continuing to bowl well throughout the rain shortened innings.

Tom Jewell led the wickets, bowling impressively at the death, mixing his pace well as he ended with figures of 4/21 from six overs.

In response, Surrey lost Tom Lancefield early but Hamilton-Brown dominated a partnership with Matt Spriegel to hit 26 from 26 balls to get the innings off to a positive start before being dismissed to leave his side 32/2.

However, Spriegel was unmoved and played throughout the innings forging links with Gary Wilson, Dominic Sibley and Jewell to keep Surrey consistently on top of the required rate, before finishing the game with a decisive boundary off the penultimate ball.
