Top 20: T20 Innings Ever

1. Chris Gayle – Royal Challengers Bangalore – 175* – April 2013

Arguably the greatest T20 batsman of all time. Unarguably, the greatest T20 innings of all time.

2. Brendon McCullum – Kolkata Knight Riders – 158* – April 2008

The first match ever in the IPL. Brendon McCullum started how they meant to go on.

3. Graham Napier – Essex Eagles – 152* – June 2008

A memorable innings – and this is just the last over!

4. Louis van der Westhuizen- Namibia – 145 – November 2011

Sadly there is no footage of this, doubtless it would have been good to watch though!

5. Cameron White – Somerset Sabres – 141* – July 2006

Again, this one unfortunately evaded the cameras. However, here is the same batsman hitting three consecutive maximums against Pakistan!

 6. David Warner – New South Wales Blues – 135* – October 2011

Warner set the inaugural T20 Champions League alight with this big hitting belter!

7. Chris Gayle – Royal Challengers Bangalore – 128* – May 2012

It’s that man Gayle again, with the RCB once again benefiting from his astonishing hitting.

8. Murali Vijay – Chennai Super Kings – 127 – April 2010

The highest Indian on our list, Vijay enjoyed this innings in front of his home town crowd!

9. Quinton de Kock – Lions – 126* – February 2013

Sadly there were no cameras there in February, but this South African youngster is certainly one to watch in the future.

10. Craig Williams – Namibia – 125 – November 2011

Cameras are clearly not rife in the world of Namibian cricket but it certainly seems like they have some powerful batsmen around!

11. Unmukt Chand – Delhi – 125 – March 2013

Just to show that the IPL is not the only game in town when it comes to T20 in India, this was scored in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy! Sadly a lower profile means fewer cameras. However, here is the young man with a match winning century in the 2012 U19 World Cup Final.

12. Michael Lumb – Hampshire Royals – 124* – June 2009

County star Michael Lumb blasted his away into International contention with this – non televised – knock at the Rose Bowl. No matter how good this innings was, it’s unlikely he will hit many better shots than this in his career!

13. David Warner – New South Wales Blues – 123* – October 2011

Warner certainly hit a purple patch of form during the 2011 Champions League, here he is again with a second knock from the same tournament.

14. Brendon McCullum – New Zealand – 123 – September 2012

The highest innings ever in a full T20 International, it’s that man McCullum again.

15. Chris Gayle – Jamaica – 122* – January 2013

Gayle gets in for a third time, naturally. This time back in the Caribbean for Jamaica.

 16. Ryan ten Doeschate – Mashonaland Eagles – 121* – December 2011

ten Doeschate has done for many a county side in his time, but his personal best was achieved for the Mashonaland Eagles in the Zimbabwean league, where there are not many cameras! There were more at the 2011 World Cup though, when he cracked a century for Holland against England.

17. Paul Valthaty – Kings XI Punjab – 120* – April 2011

A small name in IPL terms – but one who can hit the ball a long way!

18. Martin Guptill – Auckland – 120* – January 2012

The second Kiwi on the list, hitting a hometown hundred early in 2012.

19. Virender Sehwag – Delhi Daredevils – 119* – May 2011

A big star in India, ‘Viru’ has certainly earned his celebrity with knocks like this!

20. Kevin O’Brien – Gloucestershire Gladiators – 119 – June 2011

Most well known for putting England to the sword, Kevin O’Brien has also impressed on the domestic scene!

Don’t forget, Surrey will be in T20 action this July, playing five matches at the Kia Oval. Tickets are available to buy here and all matches get going at 6.30pm.
