From the 9th to 13th October this year once the cricket season is over Gary Wilson won’t be off on his holidays but instead he will be cycling 380 miles over five days for Cancer Research.
Gary will be joined on the Irish Cricket’s Big Bike Ride with the captain of Ireland and long-standing friend William Porterfield. Sadly in April this year Gary lost his mother to cancer and he wanted to do something for others in the same predicament and decided with the idea of a bike ride.
The idea originated from Chris Adams who cycled in the Big Cricket Ride for Leukemia & Lymphoma Research last year. This year Gary will be cycling from Cork to Belfast stopping at Kilkenny, Dublin, Armagh and Londonderry on the way. He will be inviting other celebrities, friends and cricketers to join him along the way.
Gary said that “The Cancer Research charity is very special and close to my heart and I want to give something back to everyone affected by this disease.
“I also really appreciate the fantastic support I have had from our supporters over the years, who are some of the best supporters in the game. If anyone is able to donate towards our ride I would really appreciate it.”
If anyone would like to sponsor Gary and help donate to Cancer Research you can do so by clicking here.
