Fast bowler Tom Curran starred for the South as they demolished the North in the first of three pre-season One Day matches in Dubai.
An idea from England Director of Cricket Andrew Strauss, the games see the best players from counties in the south of England taking on the best players from northern counties.
With the South bowling first, Curran took 3/19 from six overs as the North were dismissed for 202. The first wicket, Curran’s England Lions colleague Ben Duckett, was caught by Surrey wicket keeper Ben Foakes. He also accounted for Worcestershire’s Joe Clarke and Northamptonshire’s Graeme White.
The South chased down the runs without breaking a sweat as Kent’s Daniel Bell-Drummond and Middlesex’s Dawid Malan put on a double century partnership to secure a ten wicket win.
The second game in the series takes place on Sunday.
