The two day Second XI friendly between Sussex and Surrey at Horsham ended in a draw after a second rain effected day yesterday.
After Surrey were bowled out for 149, Sussex began their reply positively with Chris Nash (59) and Harry Finch (24) putting up an opening partnership of 94.The pair played well together but Nash rode his luck at times, with Surrey being made to rue three dropped chances in the morning session.
Pick of the Surrey bowlers was PG Academy seamer Will Pereira, making his Second XI debut, but it was Jack Winslade that made the initial breakthrough, getting Finch caught behind by Adam Rouse.
Nash followed quickly afterwards, LBW to Tim Linley, and Steffan Piolet was then bowled first ball, also by Linley.
However, from 111/3, Callum Jackson (26*) and England International Luke Wright (50) brought stability back to the innings, adding 70 for the fourth wicket when Wright was caught behind off triallist seamer Miles Richardson.
Will Beer had come to the crease for four balls when, for a second day in a row, the rains came and umpires took the players from the field with Sussex 181/4. They did not return and the match was ended as a draw.
