Surrey have named a 13 man squad for tomorrow’s derby game against Middlesex in the return of the Specsavers County Championship.
Returning to four-day cricket following a three-week break for the group stage of the Royal London One-Day Cup, the two London sides will want to reignite their campaigns with a win.
Surrey currently sit top of Division One of the Specsavers County Championship, whilst Middlesex are defending their title, having dramatically won the competition in 2016, and are unbeaten after their first two games – which both ended in a draw.
The fixture sees Amar Virdi included in the Surrey senior side for the first time this season. Virdi, a Surrey Academy graduate, was awarded a full professional contract in August 2016. The 18-year-old spinner has been involved with the England Young Lions, and has represented Surrey since U12 level.
There is also spot for Ravi Rampaul in a first-class squad for the first time this summer. Rampaul missed out for the first three games of the season but has recently performed well in Surrey’s successful Royal London One Day Cup group matches.
The game will be covered live on BBC London, with full match commentary available from the BBC Sport website. As usual in non-televised games, live highlights will be available on Surrey CCC social media feeds throughout the day.
