2nds lose in 50 over match at Glamorgan

Gus Atkinson scored 59 and Matt Dunn took two wickets in a five wicket defeat for Surrey 2nd XI against Glamorgan at Pontypridd CC on Tuesday.

Batting first, Surrey made 227/8 from their 50 overs with Nick Welch top scoring with 80. Atkinson was the only other man to go beyond fifty while Arun Harinath and Wisden Schools Cricketer of the Year Nathan Tilley both made starts but couldn’t go on.

In response, Callum Taylor scored 85 and Craig Meschede 71 with Dunn claiming figures of 2/30 from his 10 overs. Amar Virdi, Prince Singh and Zen Malik were the other men to claim wickets but it wasn’t enough for Surrey.

Surrey’s second XI will be back in action on Wednesday in a three-day match with Glamorgan at Neath CC.
