Surrey’s England Test men Rory Burns, Sam Curran and Ollie Pope spoke to us before they began training ahead of this winter’s Test series with South Africa.
England will fly to South Africa on Friday but the trio made time earlier in the week to discuss their thoughts on the winter so far, what’s to come and what to expect if you’re planning on watching them turn out for Surrey in 2020.
Burns is in fine form having notched his second international century during the recent tour of New Zealand while Pope, who was asked to keep wicket in the absence of Jos Buttler for the second match, also passed fifty for the first time in his final innings.
Curran also played both matches in New Zealand, taking six wickets and contributing down the order with the bat.
South Africa will be looking to bounce back after a 3-0 series defeat to India in October in their first Tests since the international retirement of Hashim Amla, who will be a teammate of Burns, Curran and Pope in the next two years at The Kia Oval.
