Surrey captain Rory Burns has thanked Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs after the Wales manager gave a Q+A session to the Surrey squad.
Giggs, who has made 632 Premier League appearances – the second highest of all time – was interviewed by young Surrey wicket keeper Jamie Smith on a Zoom call that was joined by members of the squad and coaching staff.
After being welcomed onto the call by Club captain Burns, topics covered by Giggs included his thoughts on career longevity and the many unique facets of being a professional player at the highest level of any sport.
“Ryan Giggs is one of the greatest footballers in the history of the Premier League”, said Burns afterwards, “so it was a superb opportunity for all our players and coaches to pick his brains. Jamie did a good job with the interview and it was very kind of Ryan to give up his time.
“Although we haven’t furloughed any of players we’re all continuing to operate under the government guidelines, so things like this are really important to bring the squad together, make us think and bring variety to our regular training programmes.”
