A modern era record number of Surrey County Cricket Club Members was a source of great pride for Chief Executive Richard Gould during the 2019 season.
More than 13,000 people joined the Club across our many different categories spanning ages, budgets and formats of play for the season just passed and Gould is keen to ensure his staff continue to improve.
Speaking in an end of season interview with journalist Adam Collins, he said: “We’re an ambitious bunch both on and off the pitch but we don’t always get it right. We reflect the ambition of our supporters. We’ve had nearly 13,500 Members this year with an active supporter base of around 200,000 Surrey supporters. Those are just people buying tickets and merchandise never mind the people that are keeping an eye on our scores or keeping up online.”
It’s not just those that directly attend matches at The Kia Oval that the Club are looking to champion either, with a new and improved live stream capability promised for the 2020 season.
“There is a huge amount of support for county cricket and it’s actually just now that we’re in the digital world that we can gauge that. We’re very excited that next year we will have multi-camera operations for all of our Championship matches and a really high production for T20 matches. All of those not televised by Sky will be live streamed on Facebook. We’ll be fascinated when we see those numbers to understand the support there is for county cricket.”
2020 Memberships are now available at The Kia Oval with a range of benefits including access to Surrey home matches, priority for international tickets and invitations to Members’ only events.
