We are consulting on new plans for the Kia Oval which will see the construction of an attractive new stand in place of the current Lock and Peter May stands.
The new development will provide 1,400 extra seats for the venue, an increase that will maintain the Kia Oval’s status as one of the world’s best cricket venues.
The new stand will better integrate with the rest of the ground, benefitting both visitors and local residents by providing:
- A better looking stadium, with the removal of the Lock and Peter May stands and their replacement with a well designed, modern stand.
- The stand will be lower in height than both the current stands and a previously consented plan for seating and facilities.
- A better match day experience with additional seating, more space for visitors to circulate and new toilet facilities.
We are planning to submit a planning application to Lambeth Council by the New Year and if we gain consent, work will begin in autumn 2015.
You are welcome to come and view the plans at our drop-in sessions to be held at the reception of the Kia Oval on Thursday 27 November and Friday 28 November between 3pm and 8pm. You can access the venue via the main gate at the Pavilion end of the ground.
