Surrey’s Elite Performance Group raised thousands for charity and their upcoming tour programme with a race night at Guildford CC, sponsored by Chartplan Limited.
£1000 of the money raised on the evening will go straight to Evelina Children’s Hospital, Surrey County Cricket Club’s charity partner.
The rest of the funds will go to clothing for the EPG’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka as well as bursaries to support promising youngsters as they continue their cricket education.
Parents of the touring players and a wide range of sponsors were invited to take part in the night in which they could place bets on eight horse races on a screen within the Pavilion at Woodbridge Road.
The race sponsors on the night were: Manya Building Supplies, Safetow Limited, Stennetts Limited, Pharmaceuticals Direct Limited, EPT Sports Management, Manya Ready Mix Concrete, Chick O Land Extra plus one anonymous sponsor.
Speaking about the night, Academy Director Gareth Townsend said: “Many thanks to all parents and sponsors who supported this event and we’re delighted it was such a fun evening. We would especially like to thank Barry and Sue Kitcherside of Chartplan Limited, who were our main race night sponsors.
“This was a great team effort to organise and run this event and we are very proud to have raised £1000 for Evelina as well as the money to assist our tour to Sri Lanka and players’ bursaries.”
The EPG will depart for a 16-day tour of Sri Lanka on Tuesday 2nd April, facing a number of local sides throughout the country.
