Surrey’s overseas players Aaron Finch and Nic Maddinson have both been added to the squad for this week’s Vitality Blast fixtures with Essex Eagles and Sussex Sharks.
Finch and Maddinson arrived in London on Tuesday after the completion of Australia’s tri-series with Pakistan and Zimbabwe in which Finch climbed to the top of the ICC batting rankings for T20 cricket.
Finch returns to the club after an impressive 2017 campaign in which he scored 489 runs across his 13 innings while Maddinson is set for his first spell in county cricket.
Mark Stoneman also joins the squad after missing the opening week defeats to Middlesex and Kent as young wicket keeper Jamie Smith and all-rounder Ryan Patel drop out to play in this week’s Second XI fixture with Hampshire.
Dernbach’s team are on the hunt for their first victories in the South Group while Essex have picked up one win so far and Sussex are enjoying a 100% record after their first two matches.
