Surrey CCC is delighted to confirm that the Kia Oval will continue to host regular Test cricket every year until at least 2024. The ground once again hosts the Final Test this summer; England v India.
The announcement, made today by the England and Wales Cricket Board, awarded the Club the right to stage Test Matches in the 2023 Ashes and in 2024. The ground will also continue to stage white ball international cricket every summer.
As well as this, it was also announced that the Kia Oval has been awarded the opportunity to stage matches in the new ECB T20 competition, which will start in 2020.
Richard Thompson, Chairman of Surrey CCC, said: “This announcement is excellent news for Surrey CCC and the long-term future of the Kia Oval.
“With the knowledge that we will now be hosting international cricket for at least the next seven years, we can continue with our work to develop the Kia Oval into best and biggest cricket ground in the country, and plan for the future of cricket in London and Surrey with confidence and surety.”
Richard Gould, Chief Executive of Surrey CCC, added: “The Club has worked really hard during recent years to deliver great cricket to capacity crowds in an outstanding ground. We deliver sell out crowds for England games, ICC competitions and Surrey CCC T20s.
