Thursday 7th November marks a full year since Ben Foakes crowned his England Test debut with a century in his first innings in the format.
The Surrey wicket keeper had long been earmarked by this point as one of the outstanding glovemen in the world game and was finally offered the opportunity to wear the Three Lions.
Batting first, England were in some trouble on 103/5 when the debutant arrived at the crease but 107 from the Surrey man alongside valuable lower order contributions took the tourists to 342 all out in Galle. Once England had completed a 211 run victory, he was named Man of the Match.
