Having been working on the demolition of the Lock Laker Stand since the final weeks of the 2019 season, the process is almost complete.
The stand, which stood between the Micky Stewart Members’ Pavilion and the Peter May Stand, has now been flattened in preparation for the One Oval Square development that is set to be completed in mid-2021.
Cranes and construction materials are now arriving on site at The Kia Oval ahead of the start of building work next week. The scheme has been designed by Kennington architects Rolfe Judd, who also designed the new Peter May Stand that was opened in 2015 and has quickly become one of the ground’s most popular locations.
Once completed, One Oval Square will include a three-tier stand that will increase Kia Oval capacity to almost 28,000 as well as providing state-of-the-art facilities for the Club’s booming hospitality and conference & events businesses.
