Surrey batsman Jason Roy has been awarded an England white ball central contract for the 2018 season.

Roy, who was awarded one of the first white ball central contracts in 2016, is one of 14 players to receive the contracts specifically for white ball cricket, with a further eight players awarded ‘Test Match’ central contracts.

Roy has had a mixed year in international cricket, being dropped from his spot at the top of the England order during the ICC Champions Trophy, but showed fine form towards the end of the year when he received another opportunity, capitalising with scores of 84 and 96 in the final two One Day Internationals against the West Indies.

England Director of Cricket, Andrew Strauss, said: “I would like to congratulate all of those who have received England contracts for 2017/18, ahead of a busy year of International cricket.”
