This Thursday – the second day of Surrey’s eagerly anticipated LV= County Championship clash with Warwickshire – sees the club stage another Schools’ Day at the Kia Oval.
With around 3,000 children expected at the ground to enjoy the day’s cricket and a host of other activities laid on for them by the club it should be a day to remember for the local youngsters.
Surrey have invited every school in south London and Surrey to the day, with around 100 taking the club up on the offer.
As well as the chance to watch the match action on what will hopefully be a glorious summer’s day, the schools will also be given ground tours; have the opportunity to do a quiz on facts and figures at the Kia Oval; get their autograph signed by Surrey and England fast bowler Chris Tremlett; attend one in a series of talks being given about cricketing cultures in different countries around the world and enjoy coaching in the Ken Barrington Cricket Centre.
A number of extra stewards, cleaning crews and volunteer members of staff have been taken on for the day as the club seeks to minimise disruption to other spectators wanting to enjoy a day at the match.
Come back to kiaoval.com later in the week to see how the pupils enjoyed their day with Surrey CCC.
