Surrey’s Nat Sciver & Sophia Dunkley will join Dunkley’s South East Stars teammates Freya Davies and Tash Farrant on England’s upcoming tour of New Zealand.
Left arm seamer Farrant returns to the international stage after an impressive first year as captain of the South East Stars, representing the Surrey & Kent region in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
The last of Farrant’s 15 international appearances came in June 2018 before she was released from her central contract in February 2019. In June 2020, she signed a regional retainer contract at South East Stars allowing her train as a professional.
She ended the inaugural Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy as Stars’ leading wicket taker, with nine dismissals.
Sciver, Davies & Dunkley all retain their places in the squad having been part of the West Indies tour of England at the back end of the 2020 season.
In Dunkley’s two matches before international duty, she scored 102 runs and took three wickets. Centrally contracted Davies also played just two of South East Stars’ six matches in the competition while Sciver represents Northern Diamonds in the regional game.
They depart for New Zealand on 24 January. Upon arriving, the entire England touring party will quarantine for 14 days in line with the guidelines set in place by the New Zealand Government. During this time, testing protocols will be in place to allow the group to train.
The three-match ODI series begins on 23th February with matches following on the 26th & 28th. The three-match T20I series begin on 3rd March with matches following on the 5h & 7th.
