Surrey fans can now download the 2018 Second XI Fixtures into their online calendars.

As ever, the 2018 Second XI campaign will be an important part of the club’s season, giving young players the chance to prove themselves and other members the squad the opportunity to make a case for first XI selection.

The season will kick off with a three day friendly, as Surrey field a mixed team with Hampshire to play a similarly mixed XI made up of Sussex and Essex players at the Ageas Bowl before competitive action begins with two trips to the west country.

First up is a trip to Taunton Vale CC to play Somerset in the three day Second XI Championship and then Rockhampton Cricket Club to play Gloucestershire, in the One Day Trophy.

Surrey’s first home game is a fifty over trophy encounter with Essex at LSE on Monday May 14th, with further trips during the season taking the Second XI to the Edgbaston Foundation Ground in Birmingham and East Grinstead in Sussex. Late season friendlies to Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire are still to have their venues confirmed.

The only home match not currently to be staged at the LSE Ground is the final game of the year, a three day friendly against Yorkshire in mid September that will take place at Guildford CC’s Woodbridge Road ground.

As in previous years, all match days in the T20 competition will be played as double headers, with games due to begin at 11.30am and 3pm respectively.

The partnership between Surrey and London School of Economics (LSE) was announced in February 2016, with the ground first being used last summer – both for Second XI and age group matches and First XI and Surrey Stars training.

The ground, also used by players from the Fulham FC Academy, is situated just off the A3 and is also walking distance from both Berrylands and New Malden railway stations.
