Surrey have named a 13-man squad that are in contention for Wednesday’s Vitality Blast clash with Sussex Sharks at The Kia Oval.

Gareth Batty, who so far has acted as captain in Jade Dernbach’s absense, misses this match with a hamstring injury. Laurie Evans also drops out of the side that has remained unchanged during Surrey’s recent impressive run, due to an agreement between Surrey & Sussex when Evans moved to The Kia Oval on loan.

Liam Plunkett could make his first appearance of the summer while Rikki Clarke may play his first T20 match in 2020.

Surrey have now won four consecutive matches in the Vitality Blast and sit top of the South Group, only ahead of Wednesday’s opponents on net run rate. With three fixtures remaining in the group stage, both teams will be hoping to finish in the top two to guarantee safe passage to the quarter-finals.

The best two third placed finishers across the three groups will also go into the last eight.

Sam Curran, Tom Curran & Jason Roy remain with England for the ongoing white-ball series with Australia.

Jade Dernbach is absent with a groin injury and all-rounder Jordan Clark with foot and ankle injuries. Nick Kimber (knee) is also out of contention for this match.

Conor McKerr (knee), Morne Morkel (ankle), Ryan Patel (knee) & Ollie Pope (shoulder) are out for the rest of the season.

The match will be streamed live on kiaoval.com and Facebook Watch with David Garrido and Ollie Pope introducing the commentary of the BBC’s Mark Church.

After this fixture, Surrey will travel to Hampshire on Friday before welcoming Kent on Sunday. Squads for those matches will be announced on the day before play.
