The awards were given to honour the unique dual victory achieved by Surrey in 2018, with the men’s side winning the Specsavers County Championship and the Surrey Stars being crowned Kia Super League champions for the first time.
The event, held at the Brooklands Hotel in Weybridge and hosted by BBC Surrey’s Tim Durrans, recognises the contributions and achievements of sportsmen and women throughout the county, at all levels.
Winners on the night included youth Olympians, teams from the Surrey Youth Games and the Guildford Ladies Hockey First XI, who were named team of the year.
The club were represented on the night by David Gill, a member of both the club’s General Committee and Surrey Cricket Management Board and Simon Dyson, the Chairman of the Surrey Cricket Foundation.
Tim Durrans, Sports Editor of BBC Surrey said: “It was great to see the Active Surrey Sports Awards recognise the achievements of the Surrey Men and Women Cricket teams after what was a truly remarkable year.
“It was also clear that those successes are inspiring teams all the way down the Surrey County pyramid all the way to a thriving grass roots scene.”
