London & East region, including four Surrey Academy players, won two and lost one of their three ECB Super 4s fixtures at Loughborough University this week.

Seamers Nathan Barnwell & Ben Townsend, slow left arm bowler Yousef Majid and batter Sheridon Gumbs were the four players from the Surrey Academy selected to represent the London & East region.

26th July – London & East (205 all out) beat North (149 all out) by 56 runs

Surrey’s bowlers were key to this win, even if our cohort didn’t contribute much with the bat for London & East.

Right arm seamer Nathan Barnwell took 3/36 from his eight overs at the top of the innings while first change bowler Ben Townsend (1/20) and slow left armer Yousef Majid (1/29) were also in the action.

Barnwell, Townsend and batter Sheridon Gumbs each scored two runs.

27th July – London & East (192/7) beat South & West (206 all out) by 3 wickets (DLS method)

Gumbs, this time opening the batting, scored nine runs and Barnwell made 10 himself after there were no wickets for Barnwell and Townsend in the first half of the match.

29th July – London & East (161 all out) lost to Midlands (191 all out) by 30 runs

Barnwell was back in the wickets on Thursday, claiming 2/37 from his 7.5 overs while Townsend & Majid went wicketless in their overs. Gumbs, again opening the batting, made 21.
