Surrey players: What’s to come in November

Published: 1st November, 2019

It’s now more than a month since the English domestic season finished and after some time off, our players are getting back into cricket all around the world.

England will be back in action over on the other side of the world but as well as that, lots of Surrey players will be involved in domestic leagues.

2020 Memberships are now available at The Kia Oval with a range of benefits including access to Surrey home matches, priority for international tickets, an invitation to Members’ only events plus much more!

England in New Zealand

England will be very busy in their short, sharp tour of New Zealand with five T20Is and two Test matches and they’ve already started.

Sam and Tom Curran are Surrey’s representatives in the England squad for the T20Is, spanning the 1st to the 10th before Rory Burns and Ollie Pope join Sam as part of the Test squad. The first Test begins in Tauranga on 20th November before Hamilton hosts the second match, starting on 28th November.

Pakistan in Australia

New Vitality Blast spinner Shadab Khan is in the Pakistan squad for three T20Is with Australia in Sydney, Canberra and Perth on the 3rd, 5th and 8th respectively.

21-year-old leg spinner Khan signed up to represent Surrey in the T20 competition last week and already has an incredible 117 international wickets.

Women’s Big Bash League

Nat Sciver is already in Australia performing for the Perth Scorchers in the Women’s Big Bash. Our all-rounder already has 93 runs from three innings but hasn’t yet bowled.

Matches in the WBBL mainly take place at the weekend, with Perth playing in nine fixtures this month. Seven of those are at the weekend with Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 20th the only exceptions. Click here to see their full fixture list.

Mzansi Super League

Tom Curran, Morne Morkel and Jason Roy will all play in this year’s South African T20 competition with Curran & Morkel playing for Tshwane Spartans and Roy with the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants.

The competition begins on 8th November and finishes with the final on 16th December. Click here to find out about the competition.

Abu Dhabi T10 league

Hashim Amla is the icon player for and skipper of the Karnataka Tuskers for the third edition of the T10 league out in Abu Dhabi. Tuskers are in Group A of the competition which spans the 15th to the 24th November. Tuskers begin on the 16th and will play three matches in three days in the group stage before the eliminators begin.

The recently internationally-retired South African joined Surrey on a two-year Kolpak deal earlier this week.

Australian Grade cricket

Scott Borthwick is captain of Midland-Guildford in Perth and will be joined at the club, who housed Alec Stewart during the 1980s, by Nico Reifer. Ryan Patel will also be in Perth, playing for University Cricket Club.

Jamie Smith is already impressing for Eastern Suburbs CC in Sydney, as this video from his efforts last weekend demonstrate. Elsewhere in Sydney, Mark Stoneman will play for Bankstown and Morne Morkel is playing T20 cricket for Manly Warringah.

Australian grade cricket takes place at the weekend, with red-ball matches over two Saturdays and white-ball matches often on Sundays. We will provide updates from our players in the days following their performances.
