Surrey Social: Red Ball Starts In Sri Lanka

Published: 2nd November, 2018

With four Surrey men in the England Test squad to face Sri Lanka this month, there’s been plenty going on across social media this week.

England have enjoyed two warm-up matches against Sri Lankan Board XIs this week with Rory Burns, Ollie Pope, Ben Foakes and Sam Curran all involved. It looks like hard work in the subcontinental heat.

It’s not all hard work though, Sam Curran has been out making new friends.

Rory Burns clearly didn’t appreciate the cueing skills of teammates Ben Foakes and Ollie Pope however.

Sophia Dunkley has arrived in the West Indies ahead of the Women’s World T20. The uncapped all-rounder is in the England squad with her Surrey Stars captain Nat Sciver.

Jason Roy has been in Sri Lanka since the end of the season for England’s white ball tour. With that now complete, he’s set to attend Eoin Morgan’s wedding this weekend and doesn’t it look delightful.

Rikki Clarke is enjoying the post-season family life in Dubai. The great man could finally have met his match though!

It’s Movember again and Aaron Finch went clean shaven earlier this week in preparation. Looking forward to seeing it again in a few weeks!

The Surrey Women have also been hard at work in the gym this week. Bryony Smith felt watched over by Nat Sciver as she made her way past the Kia Oval Pavilion.

Finally, Mark Church is plodding along in his epic 1000 miles challenge and Ollie Pope’s message is one we can all get behind.
