Surrey Starts begin their 2017 KSL season at home to Yorkshire Diamonds on Sunday 13th August at the Kia Oval.
Featuring four England World Cup Winners, the Surrey Stars are one of the favourites to take the Kia Super League crown for the 2017 season, the second year of the competition.
Alongside captain Natalie Sciver, the Surrey Stars feature Tammy Beaumont, Alex Hartley and Laura Marsh, all of whom lifted the World Cup trophy having beaten India in the Final in front of a sell-out Lord’s crowd, in July.
Joining the England Internationals are South African’s Lizelle Lee and Marizanne Kapp, Australian Rene Farrell and a host of exciting local talent including Aylish Cranstone, Sophia Dunkley, Bryony Smith and Hannah Jones.
Kirstie White will also represent the Surrey Stars, having missed out in 2016 due to injury. The 29-year-old is one of the most exciting batsman in domestic cricket, having been Surrey Women’s top run scorer for the past two seasons.
Here’s four facts to know before Surrey Stars host Yorkshire Diamonds:
- The last time the two sides faced each other in the KSL, Surrey won by 6 wickets as Tammy Beaumont (47) and Bryony Smith (31) put on an opening partnership of 65.
- Natalie Sciver finished the 2016 KSL with 181 runs, the fifth highest in the league, with a high score of 90* and an average of 90.50.
- Alex Hartley was Surrey’s highest wicket taker in the KSL in 2016 with 8 wickets in 5 innings.
- Surrey’s Laura Marsh had the highest strike rate of any player in the KSL in 2016 with 170.83.
Tickets are still available for Surrey v Sussex at the Kia Oval, a double header of T20 action with the Surrey Stars – featuring four England World Cup Winners – host Yorkshire Diamonds after the men’s NatWest T20 Blast fixture.
