1. Jason Roy and Tom Curran represented England against Australia on Saturday
England were beaten by seven wickets in their T20 against Australia, and are now in New Zealand where they will take on the likes of Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson as the T20 tri-series continues. England require two wins from their two fixtures against New Zealand to progress to the final.
2. Ben Foakes is representing the England Lions against West Indies A in Jamaica
Following his inclusion in England’s Ashes squad over the winter, Surrey Wicket Keeper Ben Foakes is now part of the England Lions squad taking on a West Indies side in Jamaica. The only Surrey representative in the side, Foakes scored 16 from 79 balls in England’s first innings, on a very slow wicket.
3. The Club hosted trials yesterday for the Surrey Women side
Experienced female cricketers were invited to the Surrey Cricket Centre in Guildford to trial for the Surrey Women side who compete in the second division of the Royal London One-Day Cup and the top division of the T20 Blast.
4. Jade Dernbach has joined up with Kumar Sangakkara for the Galaxy Gladiators in the Hong Kong T20 Blitz
Since flying out to Hong Kong, Surrey T20 captain Jade Dernbach has played five fixtures for the Galaxy Gladiators in as many days, taking three wickets and scoring 23 runs. Former Surrey player Kumar Sangakkara also played for the Galaxy Gladitors who were beaten yesterday in the Final of the competition.
5. Ollie Pope is set to feature for the South in the annual North v South Series
The young Surrey Wicket Keeper Batsman has been called up to replace Hampshire all-rounder Liam Dawson, having impressed Down Under on an ECB Overseas Placement with the Campbelltown-Camden CC in Sydney this winter. Sam Curran is also in the South Squad, and the three-match series will begin on March 18th in Barbados.
6. Less than 10 weeks to go until the season starts
There is now less than 10 weeks to go until Surrey’s 2018 season starts. The first fixture of the season is at home in the Specsavers County Championship to Hampshire starting on Friday 20th April. Fans can access all of Surrey’s domestic fixtures with a 2018 Membership, starting from just £195* for adults, and £20 for U16s.
