Amar Virdi took a 5fer in each of Glamorgan 2nd XI’s innings, but it was not enough to stop defeat in North Wales.
Surrey 2nds started their three-day game against Glamorgan well, with Gus Atkinson taking the wicket of Brown with just his fourth ball of the day. Whilst the 21-year-old added a further wicket to his tally when he trapped Morgan (24) LBW, it was Amar Virdi who was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up five wickets and limited Glamorgan to 151.
In reply, Surrey hit 159 with Nathan Tilley top scoring with 42 before being caught behind off the bowling of Sisodiya.
The match remained tight in Day 2, as captain Dunn set the precedent with the early wicket of Brown and he went on to take a further two wickets. It was another impressive performance by Amar Virdi, as he took five wickets from his 26.1 overs including a caught and bowled to remove Meschede for 41. Glamorgan ended their innings on 187.
Surrey then required 179 to win, and despite a dogged performance from Arun Harinath who scored 78 from 252 balls, the away side fell short by 23 runs.
The Surrey 2nd XI’s next match comes against Gloucestershire at New Malden in a three day Championship fixture starting on Tuesday 21st May.
