After signing in the winter of 2019, Moriarty stood out in the shortened 2020 season.
The slow left arm bowler, also a left-handed lower order batsman, played four red-ball matches for Surrey 2nd XI in August & September. He claimed 12 wickets during those appearances, including second innings figures of 6/71 against Yorkshire at York CC in September.
Moriarty represented South Africa at U19 level in one Test and one ODI in the summer of 2016. He has since also turned out for MCC Young Cricketers, including figures of 3/4 against Surrey’s 2nd XI in May 2019.
He was quick out of the blocks in 2020, taking three five-wicket hauls in his first two first-class matches and taking more wickets than anyone else in duck egg blue as Surrey made the Vitality Blast final. 2021 saw Moriarty become a regular in all three formats as the Royal London Cup returned.
