PG Academy Leave for SA Tour

The Pemberton Greenish Surrey Academy leave for Cape Town tomorrow on their annual South African tour.

Led by Academy Director Gareth Townsend, the fourteen man party will play seven matches against Somerset College, Western Province Cricket Association, Western Province Cricket Club and Boland Park.

As well as Gareth Townsend, the group will be accompanied by a number of coaches including Richard Bedbrook, new Performance Manager Tom Benge, Neil Stewart and club Sports Psychologist Rebecca Symes.

The tour party is one of the youngest the club has ever taken to South Africa and includes U14 batsman Jamie Smith as well as the nucleus of the Surrey side that won last year’s ECB National U15 title including James Culff, Sam Curran, Ryan Patel, Ollie Pope and Angus Dahl.

Townsend was also a part of the senior squad tour to South Africa earlier this month, and whilst in Cape Town spoke to Mark Church about his plans for the Academy tour. Please see below to watch the interview.
