Surrey have confirmed a pre-season programme that will again see the club visit Cape Town in early March – before returning to England for a pair of matches against county opposition.
The trip to South Africa, the home country of new Surrey coach Graham Ford and club captain Graeme Smith, will take place in early March and see the club playing a number of games against local opposition as well as taking the opportunity to train outside in warm weather conditions.
They will then return to England to play a two day match against London rivals Middlesex at Merchant Taylors’ School in north-west London on March 20th and 21st before then travelling to Chelmsford for a two day game against Essex on March 27th and 28th.
As previously announced, the pre-season programme will then conclude with a three day first-class match against Cambridge MCCU at Fenners from Tuesday April 1st to Thursday April 3rd, giving the squad two days to prepare for the start of their LV= County Championship campaign against Glamorgan at the Kia Oval on Sunday April 6th.
