Surrey Second XI started their Second XI Championship season with a draw against Gloucestershire in Bristol.
Starting the final day with a lead of 39, Surrey captain Arun Harinath progressed to his second half century of the match, batting well alongside triallist Aneesh Kapil (67) as Surrey accumulated a steady lead.
Every batsman made a contribution with first innings centurion Tom Curran (23), Ollie Batchelor (26) and Adam Rouse (19*) all helping along the way to a total of 234/5, setting Gloucestershire 238 for victory.
Although the Surrey bowlers put in a whole hearted performance in the final fourteen overs of the day, Gloucestershire were resolute in their defence and chugged to 31/1 at the end of the final day. The only wicket to fall was Benny Howell, caught by Tim Linley off George Edwards for 2.
