Graeme Smith has hailed new Surrey Head Coach Graham Ford as the right man to take the Club forward.
Speaking to Surrey TV on the club’s pre-season tour in Cape Town, Smith was convinced that the man who was South African coach when he made his debut is an excellent appointment.
“Fordy has a very proud record in the game”, Smith told Mark Church. “I made my debut for South Africa when he was the coach so we’ve come full circle and back together.
“He’ll certainly be the right man for Surrey: a hard working guy, a good cricket coach and a really humble man.
“He’s the right man to take the Club forward and I’m looking forward to our relationship going from strength to strength” Smith continued. “Hopefully we can look back on a period of time where we’ve been able to create something special with the players at Surrey.”
Ford is currently working with the players in the sunny climes of Cape Town – and will return to England his weekend to prepare for Surrey’s first pre-season friendly, away to Middlesex at Merchant Taylor’s School on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st March.
