D’Arcy Short

Big hitting Australian batsman D’Arcy Short will play for Surrey in the 2020 Vitality Blast.

Short replaces Aaron Finch as our overseas batsman for the competition. The Australian white-ball captain is unavailable due to three T20Is and three ODIs against England in July – fixtures which coincide with the group stage of the Vitality Blast.

29-year-old Short hit 483 runs in just 12 innings for Durham in this year’s competition, the fourth most in the tournament, and comes with a wealth of experience from the Indian Premier League and Big Bash as well as his 24 international appearances.

Short also provides an option with the ball – picking up 13 wickets in this year’s tournament with his left-arm wrist spin – and is relishing the prospect of playing in front of a number of full houses at The Kia Oval.
