OFF SPINNER GARETH BATTY FORMS A VITAL PART OF SURREY’S SQUAD IN ALL FORMATS OF THE GAME.
Batty combines great technical and tactical nous with an unshakable commitment to the cause at hand.
Primarily an off spinner, he draws on all his experience within the game – including nine Test Matches and ten One Day Internationals – to play whatever role is required – and is equally adept at bowling attacking and defensive lines. He is also frequently capable of adding useful runs down the order, with a first-class best of 133 testifying to his quality with the bat. His excellent 2016 form was rewarded with a ‘second coming’ to the England Test squad for the trip to India in the winter.
A Yorkshireman by birth but a Surrey player by choice, Batty has lead the Club from 2015 to 2017, before handing over the reigns to Rory Burns and Jade Dernbach.
