An experienced opening batsman who joined Surrey from Durham for the 2017 season which resulted in an England Test call-up.
With over 11000 first-class runs and over 4,000 more in white-ball cricket, Stoneman is one of the most proven performers on the county circuit and brings a great deal of nous and know how to the Surrey top order.
On debut for Surrey, Stoneman hit 165 against Warwickshire in the 2017 Specsavers County Championship season opener at the Kia Oval. His performances for Surrey in the 2017 season earned him an England call-up, and a place on England’s Ashes tour of 2017/18.
Mark has played an important role at the top of the order with Club captain Rory Burns over the last three seasons and in 2018 helped Surrey to their first County Championship win for 16 years, where he scored 660 runs with a top score of 144.
Stoneman has continued to act as a steady presence at the top of the order in red-ball cricket and earned a brief run as captain during the 2020 season in the absence of Rory Burns & Ben Foakes.
