AN OPENING BATSMAN AND LEFT ARM SPINNER, ZAFAR ANSARI OFFERS BALANCE AND SOLIDITY TO SURREY IN ALL FORMATS OF THE GAME.

A Surrey regular since U9 level – including a period when he was supported by the Brian Johnston Memorial Trust through the BJMT Elite Spin Bowling Programme – 2014 saw Ansari form a stable opening partnership with Rory Burns, carving out a regular spot for himself at the top of the order and flourishing under the responsibility of building a platform for his team.

With over 1,000 first-class runs and 25 wickets, Ansari’s good form earned him selection for the England Performance Squad, who trained in Sri Lanka before Christmas.

In limited overs cricket, Ansari’s left arm spin provides an excellent economical option and he is also a committed and high quality option in the field. He has also picked up an excellent habit in recent years of being the man most likely to hit the winning runs for Surrey!
