Jack Winslade and England secured their place in the Semi-Final’s of the ICC Under 19 World Cup after beating India this morning by three wickets.
Winslade took the new ball for England and made an early breakthrough when he had Ankush Baines caught behind in the second over for 1. The England bowlers reduced the World Champions to 24-4 but 68 from Deepak Hooda saw India post 221-8 with Winslade finishing with 1-44 off his 10 overs.
England made a solid start to their pursuit of 222 for victory but found themselves 41-3 in the 11th over. Ben Duckett led the recovery with 61 and he was backed up by Joe Clarke with a crucial 42. It was left to Rob Jones and Rob Sayer to see England over the winning line with five balls to spare and book their semi-final place.
England will now play Pakistan on Monday morning for a place in the World Cup Final.
