Surrey and England all-rounder Jack Winslade took 2/23 as the England U19s beat New Zealand by 115 runs this morning to move into the quarter-finals of the U19 World Cup.
Winslade, playing in the tournament alongside fellow Surrey player Dominic Sibley, took the wickets of Shawn Hicks and Kyle Jamieson as New Zealand were dismissed for just 114, chasing England’s total of 229/8.
Sibley, opening the innings alongside Sussex’s Harry Finch, had earlier been dismissed for just two.
The victory means England have finished second behind Sri Lanka in Group D and will face the winners of Group A – likely to be India – in the quarter-final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday February 22nd. The game is due to start at 5.30am GMT and will be televised live on Sky Sports 3.
