Reece Topley and Natalie Sciver both starred for England last night, as the Men’s and Women’s teams were in action on different sides of the world.

West Indies

Topley, playing in his second game of the five match series, emerged with great credit, opening the bowling and taking 1/30 from his four overs despite the West Indies piling on a giant total of 224/5.

This backed up a superb return to international cricket for the tall left arm seamer at the weekend, when he took 1/18 from his four overs in the second game of the season, bowling 16 dot balls, dismissing opener Brandon King LBW first ball and affecting a superb run out off his bowling (pictured) to get rid of the dangerous Shai Hope.

Jason Roy has also enjoyed a solid series so far, overcoming a score of six in the first game to post rapid fire innings of 45 and 19.

Although England lost the high scoring encounter to go 2-1 down in the series, Topley and Roy will hope to make a key difference in the deciding matches this weekend.

Australia

Over in Australia, Natalie Sciver enjoyed a good start to the only Test Match in the England Women’s Ashes series.

Coming on first change, the all-rounder recorded figures of 3/41 from her sixteen overs, taking the crucial wickets of the talismanic Ellyse Perry (18), all time great Meg Lanning (93) and the in form Tahlia McGrath (52) as the hosts ended the first day on 327/7.

Sciver will be hoping to continue her wicket haul and then make similar inroads with the bat as England seek what would be a series defining victory in Canberra.
