18-year-old batter Adam Thomas has signed his first professional contract with the Club.

Thomas has impressed in the Second XI over the last couple of years, making his senior debut in the 2024 Metro Bank One Day Cup victory away at Essex.

Thomas’ cricketing journey started at Guildford CC, before joining the Surrey pathway system, at the age of 11. He attended Cranleigh School and currently plays his club cricket for Ashtead CC in the Surrey Cricket Championship.

The right-handed batter captained the Surrey U18 team to the 2023 National T20 Cup, scoring an unbeaten 41 not out in the final.

Pathway lead, Chris Taylor, said: “It’s fantastic to see Adam Thomas’ hard work rewarded with his first professional contract. He is a talented cricketer and has been a leader throughout the Pathway system. I have high hopes for Adam and am excited to see his journey unfold at Surrey.”

On signing, Thomas said: “I’m delighted to sign my first professional contract with my home Club. Since joining the Surrey pathway at 11 years old, it’s been my dream to represent the men’s first team.”

“I’ve loved being around the group and am looking forward to learning from some of the best batters in world cricket.”
