LAST TIME OUT VS ESSEX
Surrey got over the line by three wickets when the two sides met at the Kia Oval in May.
Maitlan Brown bowled Grace Scrivens with the first ball of the match. Ariana Dowse (69) and Florence Miller (74) kept the Essex innings together as they were bowled out for 227 in the 50th over. Surrey took wickets at regular intervals to keep the innings within their grasp. Dani Gregory took three wickets, but the tight middle over bowling of Priyanaz Chatter (2/37) and Alice Monaghan (2/45) kept Surrey in control.
Monaghan’s good day out continued with the bat. The all-rounder hit 49 at the top of the order to give Surrey the start they required. Essex chipped away with regular wickets, but an incredible 69-run eighth wicket partnership between Aylish Cranstone (31 not out) and Priyanaz Chatterji (37 not out) got Surrey over the line.
