Amar Virdi is an exciting young off spinner who came through the Surrey Academy alongside several of his current teammates.
Virdi was included in a number of squads during the 2016 summer before being named in the England Young Lions (formerly England U19s) squad for the winter programme, and went on to make his First-Class debut for Surrey in a Specsavers County Championship fixture away at Essex in May 2017.
On his debut, Virdi took three wickets, two coming in a single over, and finished the match with figures of 36-7-82-3 and an economy rate of 2.27.
The spinner was then crucial to the 2018 Specsavers County Championship title with 39 wickets throughout the campaign.
2019 saw him miss a large chunk of the season due to fitness issues, but on return he took career-best figures of 8/61 finishing with match figures of 14/139.
The 22-year-old has since featured on England Lions & senior England tours and is hopeful of earning his senior international cap soon.
