A top order batsman and leg spin bowler, Scott Borthwick joined Surrey from Durham in late 2016 with the hope of refreshing his career in the capital.
Borthwick started his career as a leg spin bowler and good lower order batsman but has developed into one of the County Championship’s most consistent top order performers.
A regular scorer of more than 1,000 first-class runs in each season at Durham, Borthwick regularly bats at 3, provides an extra option with the ball and the safest pair of hands in the game in the slips.
The left-hander was in exceptional form early in the 2018 season before a wrist injury ended his year early as his teammates went on to lift the County Championship title. The 2019 season saw Borthwick feature throughout, notching two red-ball centuries from anywhere within the top three.
