Surrey have named a 13-man squad for the Club’s home opener, this week’s LV= County Championship clash with Hampshire at The Kia Oval.
The only change from the 12-man squad selected for last week’s game is the addition of leg spinning all-rounder Cameron Steel, who is now available after missing the first game of the season with concussion.
Rory Burns (captain)
Ben Foakes (wicket keeper)
From an injury perspective, Matthew Dunn is unavailable with a side strain, Conor McKerr with a fractured rib and Gus Atkinson with a hip issue related to a recent illness. Atkinson is now on a return to playing programme, overseen by the Club medical team.
Ben Geddes has a broken thumb and Tom Lawes is recovering from a recently diagnosed mild rib stress injury and is currently playing in the Second XI as a batter.
Tom Curran suffered a stress fracture to his back last November while in Sydney and is still recovering whilst Sam Curran played in pre-season and is continuing his back to playing programme as overseen by the ECB.
Australian seamer Dan Worrall is yet to arrive at the Club as he deals with family issues in Australia, Chris Jordan, who returned to Surrey during the winter, is currently representing the Chennai Super Kings at the IPL and Jason Roy is still taking a break from the game. Batter Laurie Evans recently a signed a white ball only deal so is unavailable for the County Championship.
The match will be broadcast live on kiaoval.com and the Club’s official YouTube channel with commentary from BBC London’s Mark Church, former Hampshire all-rounder Kevan James and recently retired Essex batter Varun Chopra. This commentary will also be available on the BBC Sport website.
Clips from the match will be featured across Surrey CCC social networks and highlights will be available at the end of each day’s play. There will also be a full match report posted on the Club website on every evening of play.
