A mix of professionals and Academy prospects have been named in the Surrey 2nd XI squad to face Somerset at Taunton Vale in the four-day 2nd XI Championship, starting on Monday.

First team professionals Nicholas Kimber, Ryan Patel & Amar Virdi will get vital match practice ahead of the return of the LV= County Championship on the 4th July.

Joining them in Taunton are a number of young prospects including seamers Nathan Barnwell & Ben Townsend and top order batters Sheridan Gumbs, George Ealham & U15 players Krish Patel.

18-year-old right arm pace bowler Barnwell will play his first 2nd XI Championship fixture in three years while Ben Townsend will play his first Championship game at this level after four T20 appearances earlier this season.
