Surrey completed their 2nd XI T20 season with a defeat against Essex at Garon Park on Wednesday.

Ryan Patel top scored with 47 for Surrey as we were all out for 150 from just 18 overs before the hosts chased it down, hitting the winning runs from the last ball.

Patel’s 47 came from just 32 balls and he was ably supported by Justin Broad (30) and Mark Stoneman (19). Jade Dernbach and Gus Atkinson were the two standout bowlers, claiming two wickets each.

Surrey will not be part of the 2nd XI Finals Day at Arundel next week. They will next play on the 28th June, when they begin at four-day fixture against Somerset at Taunton Vale CC.
