Indian seamer Auqib Nabi has joined Surrey for the Rothesay County Championship run-in and is available for the next three fixtures against Yorkshire, Sussex and Glamorgan
The 29-year-old was called up to the squad for India’s recent Test Series against Sri Lanka having represented the India A side earlier this summer.
Nabi deservedly received his international call up having been player of the tournament in India’s premier red-ball competition, the Ranji Trophy. Representing Jammu & Kashmir, the seam bowler took 60 wickets at an average of just over 12.5 runs per wicket including a five-wicket haul in the final and nine wickets in the semi-final.
He has more than 100 wickets across the last two Ranji Trophy tournaments and has been the standout non-capped quick bowler. In 2025, he also took four wickets in four balls for the North Zone in India’s Duleep Trophy – a regional red-ball competition.
His red ball exploits led to him being signed by Delhi Capitals in 2026, where he played five matches for the franchise.
Nabi will be available for this week’s game as Surrey take on Yorkshire at the Kia Oval, before the team travel away to Hove to take on Sussex (8-11 September). His final game will be at the Kia Oval as Surrey take on Glamorgan (15-18 September).
