Surrey legend Azhar Mahmood is excited to be back at his cricketing home in his new role as Interim Assistant Coach with the Club.

Mahmood & Jim Troughton have been brought in to the Club to act as Assistants under Interim Head Coach Gareth Batty following the departures of both Vikram Solanki & Richard Johnson in January.

The former Pakistan international is already a hero amongst Surrey fans having played for the Club in all formats between 2002 and 2016. During that time he took 230 wickets and scored 5009 runs for the Club.

Asked his thoughts when called by Director of Cricket Alec Stewart, he said: “I was very excited, to be honest. You know, Surrey is always home for me and it’s good to be back at home. I would say I belong to this place and this place to me.”

The best way to see Surrey in 2022 is with a Club Membership, priced at £20 for U16s and from £71 for adults.
